Ashaway Introduces New Dynamite®
Soft Line of Zyex-Based Tennis Strings

New Dynamite 17
Combining the latest developments in Zyex multifilament fiber technology with proprietary core construction techniques, Ashaway has developed a line of tennis strings that offer "Soft Power" - increased power with a softer feel. In addition, Ashaway's new Dynamite Soft line maintains tension throughout the playing life of the string, and a specially woven surface braid helps maximize control and increase ball spin.
Zyex® Multifilament Core Technology Provides Soft Power, Reduces Tension Loss

Special Surface Braid Maximizes Control, Increases Spin

Ashaway, RI - Ashaway Racket Strings has unveiled a new advance in string technology. Combining the latest developments in Zyex ® multifilament fiber technology with proprietary core construction techniques, Ashaway has developed a line of tennis strings that offer "Soft Power" - increased power with a softer feel. In addition, Ashaway's new Dynamite® Soft line maintains tension throughout the playing life of the string, and a specially woven surface braid helps maximize control and increase ball spin.

"This is an evolutionary development for tennis string," said Crandall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Ashaway Racket Strings, "and comes at a time when there is increased demand for thinner, stronger strings. Both recreational and professional players are looking for the added 'bite' thinner strings provide. They also want more power. Plus, the increasingly active senior set wants a string that plays softer and is more forgiving to aging joints and muscles."

Zyex performance polymers have been used in racquet strings for a number of years, and are known for their resilience and tension holding properties. However, recent advances in material technology have produced Zyex filaments that are even finer and stronger than before. According to Ashaway's Steve Crandall, the company has used these to produce new multifilament core packages with increased linear density and more cross-sectional strength. The results, he said, are thinner, stronger, lighter-weight tennis strings which provide softer feel, more power, and improved ball control, yet still provide the well-known Zyex playing characteristics and tension holding properties.

Two gauges of the new Dynamite Soft line are currently available: Dynamite 17 Soft and Dynamite 18 Soft. The 17 gauge string has been engineered to maximize power and resilience, and the 18 gauge to maximize soft touch and ball control. Other gauges are still in development and will be released in the coming months.
