Ashaway is best known for manufacturing the world class racket strings used by many of the world’s leading professional players. As the only United States manufacturer of racket strings, Ashaway stands alone in meeting the stringing needs of tennis, squash, racquetball and badminton players.

Ashaway is also a world leader in the production of surgical suture thread and custom braided products. Each year over 75 million yards of suture threads are produced in out Ashaway, Rhode Island facility. The same stringent quality control system that is required by the United States Food and Drug Administration for suture production is used in all Ashaway production. Ashaway suture thread production ranges from 25-micron nylon monofilament for delicate neurosurgery to siliconized, braided polyester for critical open heart surgery.

Ashaway also produces braided polyester harness twine for the textile industry, braided nylon cores for fly fishing lines, braided nylon and polyester cords for window sash balancers, and many other custom braided lines for a variety of applications.
