Ashaway and David Palmer Team Up For Three Year Sponsorship

Ashaway's PowerNick® 18 Squash String Helps World Champion Win

David PalmerAshaway Racket Strings and World Champion David Palmer have signed a three year string sponsorship agreement. Currently ranked number two in the world and number one in his native Australia, David is the winner of 13 PSA Tour titles including the British Open. He reigned number one in men's squash from September 2001 through January 2002. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Winning the World Open in December-and coming back from two games down-took as much mental effort as it did physical," David explained. "With Ashaway string, I know I can rely on the string to do its job, which gives me the confidence to concentrate on doing mine."

David currently uses Ashaway's PowerNick® 18 squash string, made from Zyex® filaments. At just 1.15 mm gauge, the recognizable red string provides excellent power, dynamic response, and a firm string bed for ball control, while maintaining durability. PowerNick 18 also gives David the superior tension stability that he looks for in a tournament string.

Ashaway is very excited to have David join our family of sponsored players," says Steven Crandall, Vice President of Marketing for Ashaway Racket Strings. "David is a dynamic player who consistently stays at the top levels of the game. His goal is to continue to win tournaments and regain his position as number one, and with his skills and determination, we believe he will do just that."

"It has been wonderful working with the folks at Ashaway, and I look forward to a great relationship with them in the future," David said. David, who plays for Australia but trains in Belgium, has set up residence in Bermuda. He has been a member of the PSA since 1994, and recently served as president of that organization.

Ashaway also sponsors Top 10 ranked squash players Peter Nicol, Ong Beng Hee and Cassie Jackman.
