Even More About Mono Gut
Ashaway Introduces MonoGut to the Tennis World
The First Synthetic Gut to Combine Both Resiliency and Durability

Ashaway is pleased to announce the introduction of MonoGut- a new monofilament Synthetic Gut product that is designed to satisfy hard hitting tennis players that wear out typical Synthetic Guts very easily.

MonoGut is a multi-polymer monofilament that plays like a natural string but wears like a tough monofilament. This type of string is currently used by many of the World's top touring Professionals for this reason. No matter what the court surface or style of play, MonoGut insures excellent playability and outlasts typical Synthetic Gut products when used by hard hitters.

Two additional special features of Ashaway's MonoGut are the wide variety of product choices and the price. Whereas the current monofilament strings used by touring professionals are priced over $10 a set, Ashaway's MonoGut is priced less than a standard Synthetic Gut. There has never been a tennis string value for hard hitters like Ashaway's MonoGut.

In addition, Ashaway's MonoGut is available in two gauges and one hybrid combination. The products are standard MonoGut in 16L gauge (1.27mm) and tournament MonoGut 17 in 17 gauge (1.22mm). The hybrid product is Crossfire® MonoGut where Kevlar® main strings have been replaced by MonoGut mains.

MonoGut and MonoGut 17 are available in 40ft(12M) individual set packages and 660ft (200M) and 330ft (100M) bulk reels. Crossfire MonoGut is packaged with 23ft (7M) MonoGut main strings and 20ft (6M) Synthetic Gut cross strings.

Kevlar® is a registered trademark of E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co.
MonoGutTM
16L (1.27mm) gauge - 40ft. (12M)

Construction: Multi-polymer monofilament Synthetic Gut extruded in Germany to Ashaway's specifications. MonoGut is extruded with a fluorocarbon emulsion to insure ease in stringing and exceptional bite on the ball for a monofilament string.
Playability: MonoGut provides players with the durability of a monofilament construction but the responsiveness of a synthetic gut. Hard hitters will not have to sacrifice feel and control of the ball to find long-lasting durability under any conditions.
Recommended Usage: MonoGut is designed to satisfy hard hitters who find hybrids too stiff. The multi-polymer monofilament construction offers both exceptional durability and responsiveness that top players have previously only found in hybrid strings.
Recommended Stringing: It is recommended to string MonoGut with 10-15% less tension than normal.

16L gauge: Recommended string tension 45-65 lbs. (20-30 kgs.)
17 gauge: Recommended string tension 40-60 lbs. (18-27 kgs.)

Crossfire® MonoGutTM 17
16L (1.27mm) gauge MonoGut mains - 23ft. (7M)
16 (1.30mm) gauge Synthetic Gut crosses - 20ft. (6M)

Construction:
Main strings - Multi-polymer MonoGut monofilament Synthetic Gut.
Cross strings - Multifilament Synthetic Gut with abrasion-resistant wear layer.
Playability:The MonoGut monofilament main strings resist notching for superior durability. MonoGut resilience is superior to Aramid main strings for improved response. The 16 gauge Synthetic Gut cross strings are used to insure adequate flexibility and ball control by complementing the stiffer monofilament main strings.
Recommended Usage: This hybrid string combination is recommended for power players and hard hitters who are looking for a combination of multifilament synthetic gut playability and superior monofilament durability. It is especially designed to satisfy hard hitters who feel Aramid hybrids are too stiff and unresponsive.
Recommended Stringing: It is recommended to string MonoGut mains with approximately 10 lbs. less tension than the synthetic gut crosses. Variation from this recommendation may be necessary because of racket design or style of play.

MonoGut mains: 45-65 lbs. (20-30 kgs.)
Synthetic Gut crosses: 50-70 lbs. (23-32 kgs.)
